Hunnyhill Ormiston Academy Winner!
Each year, our pupils take part in the national ‘If You Were an Engineer, What Would You Do?’ competition. With over 70,000 entries submitted last year, we were thrilled to have a winner in Reception and runners‑up in Years 1, 2 and 4.
But now… we have truly incredible news.
Across the country, Primary Engineer works with university and industry partners to select just 20 designs—out of tens of thousands—to be transformed into real, working prototypes by specialist engineering teams. It’s an extraordinary honour, and this year…
Year 2 student Mylah’s invention, the ‘Sea Bed Filter,’ has been chosen!
Her imaginative design will be brought to life over the academic year and revealed at the Regional Leaders Award Exhibition and Awards Event this summer. The prototype is already in its early development stages, and we can’t wait to share updates as the project unfolds.
A huge congratulations to Mylah—what an amazing achievement. We’re all eagerly looking forward to seeing her brilliant idea become a real engineering creation!
